ASSESSOR AND INTERNAL QUALITY ASSURANCE QUALIFICATIONS (TAQA)

The old A1 and V1 Assessor/Verifier qualifications and their predecessors D32/33/34, have now been replaced by the trainer, assessor and quality assurance group of qualifications (TAQA).

Unlike the old, single unit awards, the new qualifications consist of a series of units which can be individually certificated.  Some of these are 'competence' based and some 'knowledge' based.  The knowledge based units can be completed by those who are not practitioners (for example line managers), or by those who hope to become practitioners at some point in the future.  The competence units are for practitioners, in either a college type environment or in the work environment.  Unlike the old awards, achievement of the new qualifications does not depend on assessment and quality assurance being linked to NVQs.

MAPS GROUP  is approved to offer the new Assessor and Internal QA qualifications and, in keeping with the ethos of the QCF, are offering these on a flexible, unit by unit basis.

Existing assessors and internal verifiers do not have to re-qualify.  However, the new qualifications provide an excellent opportunity for CPD - which is still a requirement.
