WE ARE ABLE TO CONDUCT EXTERNAL VERIFICATION of your
processes for assessing people 'in development'. This is a requirement of
the NJC Code of Practice for assessment of competence in relation to pay.
We tailor what we do and how we approach
it to the specific needs of the Brigades we work with, but typically the
process would involve two people visiting you for two days. During the
visit we would 'sample' against all appropriate rolemaps, taking into
account the following:
Within one week of the visit we produce a
report which identifies examples of good practice, any shortfalls against
the Code of Practice and suggestions for addressing these.
OUR ROLE IS TO SUPPORT YOU
TO ACHIEVE POSITIVE RESULTS,
these are some of the things
we can do to help:
|
If
any part of your systems
for assessing people in development
result in them achieving an NVQ,
then this will already be being
externally verified via your
NVQ Awarding Body.
The process
DOES NOT HAVE TO BE REPEATED
in order to meet the
NJC Code of Practice.

of the cost of a full external verification visit
To receive an estimated cost please complete
the details below, we will respond by email. The details don't
have to be exact, just a 'guesstimate'.
It is not binding in any way,
either on your part or ours. |
|
We can conduct a complete evaluation of your systems,
procedures, practices and outcomes to ensure compliance with the NJC Code of
Practice.
If necessary we can help you to design and implement
appropriate procedures prior to a full external verification visit taking
place.
|
 |
|
If you have people in development who need to demonstrate
competence against their rolemap but also want to achieve an NVQ, we can
cross-map the two.
For example the Station Manager rolemap
could be cross-mapped to the appropriate Management and Leadership NVQ -
enabling the developing Station Manager to achieve both.

quote from the
NJC
Code of Practice
for assessment of competence
in relation to pay:
'The purpose of external verification
should be to enable the Fire and Rescue Service and its employees to be
satisfied that its system of quality assurance for the movement from the
development to the competent rate of pay is robust and fit for purpose.'
|
 |
As you will be aware, it is good practice
for your Appeals Procedure to include the right of appeal to an external
body.
Although we hope it won't prove
necessary, we can fulfil this role on your behalf.
